February 2009 - Notes from the President

FEBRUARY- the month for "Love" and Giving. Join the Mansfield Women's Chamber on February 19, 2009 as we give our contributions to local organizations. This year we continue our donations to groups such as Girls, Inc, Life Point, Common Ground, Mansfield Fire and Police departments, Habitat for Humanities, just to name a few. This is a day to really feel good about this awesome organization, and to better understand why we work hard at making the Style Show and the Tour of Homes successful.

"March Madness" is something you WILL NOT want to miss! We all know that the success of any organization or business is new members/clients and the retention of these people. In March, Deborah Su and Heather Wickstrom, will announce our Membership Drive Contest. Learn how you can win Money by helping us grow the Women's Division. Our theme for this meeting will be sports oriented so feel free to wear your favorite team's jersey. No brawls allowedJ.....Coach Ross Patterson, Life Coach, will be giving us some tips on how to be "Iron Women" in this ever challenging market.

I am really excited to announce the rest of our Spring Speaker Line-Up! In April we will have Jeff Crilley tell us about free publicity and marketing our businesses. And listen to this! Karen Borta, anchorwoman for Channel 11, will be our Guest Speaker for May! Having these great speakers will encourage you even more to invite a guest and truly compete in our Membership Drive. We are also planning our first After Hours some time in the Spring. There are many women in our community that are unable to make the monthly luncheons that we would like to have exposure to the Women's Division. This is something they have asked for us to do so that they can get involved. Be looking for more on this event coming soon.

The Annual Style Show will be "A White Linen Affair". Everyone needs a little elegance in their life, and Chairwomen, Barrie McCoy and Thelma Brown, will definitely bring this to the table. Begin inviting friends and purchasing your tickets now. When you are ready to sponsor, volunteer or purchase tickets contact Barrie bmccoy9@charter.net or Thelma tbrown@ramtechgroup.com. Ann Monroe is taking donations for raffle and auction items: ann_monroe@commdec.com.

So here are the dates to mark your calendars:
February 19th-Luncheon-Day of Loving and Giving
March 19th-Luncheon and March Madness Kick Off
March 21st-The Annual Style Show
April 4th-Beautification Day
April 16th-Luncheon with Jeff Crilley
May 21st-Luncheon with Karen Borta

In closing, I am sticking with the sports theme.
Tom Landry said, "Today, you have 100% of your life left."
My question to you-How are you going to Live It? Sitting on the sidelines or getting into the game?

High Fives,

LISA LAMBERT
Realtor
The Tuscan on Walnut Creek

Many of you know or have met Lisa Lambert the professional "leasing agent," for the Tuscan on Walnut Creek, but did you know Lisa is a big time "horse lover?" Her passion for horses started when she was a young child growing up in Arlington. She learned proper English riding from an instructor from Saudi Arabia. She loved to work at the stables during the summer just to be around the horses. She has shown horses in the past and currently owns a retired horse by the name of Honey that is expecting her first foal.

Lisa has been married to husband Derle since 1986. Together they have two sons Cody 21 and Lonny 20, stepson Derle II 28 and daughter-in-law, Jennifer. One of the biggest life challenges Lisa has had to face as a mother was when her youngest son was diagnosed with Tourettes Syndrome. Prior to his diagnoses Lisa had worked with special needs children for the school district. Lisa believes that all the years of giving to and learning from other people's children was the training she needed to handle her own child's special needs.

Lisa joined the Women's Division like most of us to gain exposure for the Tuscan as well as fellowship with other women. What she found was great camaraderie among the members, and the amazing faith that the Women's Division has shown her. She feels personally it has given her reason and the confidence to reach further.

Lisa has been a great supporter of the Tour of Homes the last several years and had been appointed as a Director on our 2009 Executive Board.
