July 2009 - Notes from the President

Freedom-Such a simple word with a huge IMPACT. When you truly think about it-Everything we do is effected by this one word. Freedom of speech, religion, expression, assembly... and the list goes on and on. Of course, in July we stop and cherish the awesome concept of freedom with fourth of July celebrations. Do we really appreciate it throughout the year? Freedom is something we love and accept as part of our lives. It is a wonderful feeling to be able to join with others that have like attitudes and goals such as the Mansfield Women's Division.

As we move into the remainder of 2009 let's continue to get the word out about our great organization and share our mutual goals with other women. Diane Tejeda certainly knows how to spread the word. She is the winner of the $250 gift card for the Membership Drive! Way to go Diane for encouraging the most women to join and Deborah Su and Lisa Lambert were right there with Diane. At last count we had 22 new members! That is a 25% increase in membership, and welcome back those of you that renewed. Your continued support is appreciated.

Tour of Homes is underway and Lisa Lambert and Cathie Trimble are getting the committees ready to make this the best year ever. 2009 will be the 30th Anniversary of the Mansfield Women's Division Tour of Homes. These ladies need our help to make this a success. There are plans to join forces with the City of Mansfield for this entire weekend as the Parade, Pancake breakfast and other festivities take place throughout the city. Diane Tejeda & Lezlee Liljenberg are accepting vendors for the Holiday Marketplace. This was a great hit last year and spaces will be limited to specific industries. (ie jewelry, handbags, candles, etc) So get with one of them to reserve your spot today. Diane @ 817-784-6773 and Lezlee @ 817-794-5887. Fee is $100.

Lastly, mark your calendars to attend the Monthly Luncheon held on Thursday, July 16th, at the Walnut Creek Country Club. Networking begins at 11:30. You may want to plan on being there a little earlier to get more time to network. We are working hard to stay on schedule and have been starting lunch around 11:45 to get everything into a fast, fun-filled meeting. This month we will learn about aspects of Social Networking. I do not know about you, but I want to learn more about this phenomenon, and how it can help my business. Linked-In, Twitter, My Space, Facebook....how can we possibly do it all? Join us and learn how to work with at least some of the options.

I look forward to seeing you all at the luncheon, and as always I thank you for the opportunity to serve such strong and bold women.

Sincerely,

Lezlee Liljenberg, President
Mansfield Women's Division

Featured Member of the Month

LILY OLIVAS
Medical Aesthetician
Mansfield Cosmetic Surgery Center

Our featured member of the month for July is our very own beautiful Lily Olivas. Lily is currently employed by Dr. Thornton, with Mansfield Cosmetic Surgery. She was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. After graduation, her young adventurous spirit lead her to Arlington, Texas. During that time she attended the Ogle School.

Lily loves her career as an Aesthetician, and especially enjoys being able to help people feel more confident about the skin they are in. Her favorite part of her day is seeing the smile on her client's faces. She is not married yet, but she is engaged to her "prince charming," who is currently a pilot in Kenya, Africa. Now that's a long distance love-affair!

Lily joined the Women's Division/Foundation to meet and be apart of a group of aspiring women who enjoy making a difference in our community by doing something they love for a living. Lily's favorite quote... "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." Confucius.
