June 2009 - Notes from the President

Sweat plus sacrifice equals success
~Charles Finley~

Sacrifice: Everyone has a definition of what sacrifice is in their own world. Sometimes we feel we are sacrificing and wonder why we do not achieve more. At last month's meeting we heard Karen Borta, Channel 11 News; tell us her wonderful story of making it in a very tough business. She expressed it to us with a positive and upbeat attitude. You know she and her husband have had to make many sacrifices, most people would not even consider the things they did for their careers and personal growth. What inspired me most was that she did not complain or feel sorry for herself, but talked about how blessed she is in her life. Very Inspirational and her Sweat Equity had paid off!

June 18, 2009 is our next luncheon at Walnut Creek Country Club. We start with networking at 11:30, so get there early and spend some time talking with others. Our speaker is Wanda Hazleton of Mind Matters Hypnotherapy. She is going to have an interactive way of showing us what hypnotherapy is and is NOT. She will shatter some of the myths of our thinking concerning hypnotherapy. It will be fun to hear what she has to say. Invite a friend and pass this newsletter onto others that you know might want to learn more about taking control of their lives.

June 24, 2009 is our Tour of Homes Kick-Off Meeting at Palios Pizza located 2200 FM 157, Mansfield-Be there at 11:30am. Cathie Trimble and Lisa Lambert have graciously volunteered to Co-Chair and everyone is welcome to come to this meeting and see where you can help. We truly had a great time with this event last year, and I can speak from experience, that I have made some lasting relationships just by being involved with the Tour of Homes. There is something for everyone from raffle items, sponsorships, finding the homes for the tour, ticket coordination...all very important but not too time consuming so a little time can go a long way and you will have fun-I promise!

Membership Drive-this ends at the end of June. It looks like Diane Tejeda is in the lead for the "big money" and Deborah Su and Lisa Lambert are giving her a good run for her money. I am going to make a guess, but it appears that we have 22 more members signed up in the last couple of months- which is awesome! Thanks Deborah Su, Marilyn Gerloff, Daphna Simpson and Christy Drewery-Ferm for all they do to keep these things straight. It is a lot of work.

School Supplies Drive-last month we passed around a box for cash to be donated to Common Ground Network. We raised $245.00 at just one meeting! Thanks for your sacrifice in giving and the money has been delivered to the Common Ground by Daphna Simpson.

Thanks to our Table & Sweet Sponsors-remember to support these businesses that support our organization. For that matter remember to send business to one another-we are all in this together!

I appreciate each of you for what you add to this organization, and the sacrifices that you make for one another and those around you. We all work hard to be the best we can be-keep up the good work!

Sincerely,

Lezlee Liljenberg

MARY WHILLOCK
Financial Advisor with Waddell & Reed

One of the regulars in our group is a lady that comes with a sweet smile and a wealth of information for anyone interested in making some money! Mary Whillock (otherwise known as Miss Mary) is a Financial Advisor with Waddell & Reed. She enjoys being able to help people make wise financial decisions. She takes her job very seriously. Mary and her husband Jack have fun story about how they became a couple. Both had young boys that were friends from kindergarten. It was not until they were both seniors at Arlington High School and competing in the playoff games in 1997 that they started dating. Mary and Jack became a couple and the boys both received scholarships to Division 1 colleges.

One of Mary's favorite memories as a child raised in Harrisburg PA, was when she has the opportunity to visit to Galveston where she was amazed at being able to seeing the ocean floor. She has been in love with the ocean and beaches ever since. Even though she loves to travel, especially beach's, she always happy when she has a book in hand. She is a member of the Happy Bookers book club. She also spends wonderful hours of fun with her three grandsons.

"I have met and become friends with some outstanding ladies since joining this organization. I am so with the leadership qualities of our members and their commitment to Mansfield." Spoken by Miss Mary.
