March 2009 - Notes from the President

MARCH MADNESS BEGINS
"I think the key is for women not to set any limits."
- Martina Navratilova

Why "MARCH MADNESS"? This month's luncheon of the Mansfield Women's Division will Kick Off our two month Membership Drive. One of our goals is to to grow the organization, and though it is understood that these are difficult economic times, where can you find membership dues as low as $60.00 for the year? For this and many other reasons, the Women's Division should have a great opportunity to grow during this time. Getting the message out to other women of what we have to offer is our primary goal for growth. We each have to be the messenger! Game Day is March 19, 2009 with Kick Off at 11:30 am at the Walnut Creek Country Club. Wear a Jersey of any kind.

The member that brings in the most members by the end of May 2009 will win a $250 gift card. To win members must refer a minimum of 3 people that join. If there are one or more members that qualify we will draw names from this group. 2nd Place is $125 and 3rd Place is $75 and 4th is $50. There will be other fun incentives along the way. Life Coach Ross Patterson is our featured speaker for our March luncheon. Ross has been leading, coaching and focusing organizations for high impact in a wide variety of environments for 18 years. It will be exciting to learn more about being "Iron Women" in tough times and how to survive without a bail out or stimulus package.

"A White Linen Affair" Style Show is just days away and it will be wonderful to see you all there. You can buy your tickets for $45 at the luncheon and for your convenience you can go on the website and purchase them on PayPal. Ann Monroe and the raffle committee have been working hard to gather some awesome auction items. Tessa Pierce has the models all lined up and ready to take stage. Cathie Trimble can still be contacted for Vendor Tables so there is something for everyone to enjoy. You do not want to Miss this event!

Beautification Day! I am always impressed by the dedication and commitment of members, Joyce Williams and Lucretia Mills for making this event a success! The Women's Division will be holding its' bi-annual Beautification Day on Saturday, April 4, 2009 from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to clean out that garage of all unwanted trash.
THINGS TO KNOW:
- A chipper will be available to recycle tree trimmings.
- Summit High school's Interact Club will be collecting old electronics and computers for recycling.
- All scrap metal will be recycled.
- In conjunction with us, the City is offering a Tire Amnesty Day. You may bring all old tires to our site for free!
- Free compost will be available!
- We do not accept hazardous wastes, paint, oil, pool chemicals, etc...
- Proof of residency is required, water bill or driver's license. Donations are appreciated to help cover our expenses.

We will be needing volunteers from the Women's Division to help us from 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. If you can help, call Joyce Williams at 817-223-6410. If you have never worked this event, you should. You will be amazed at how fun playing in the trash can be. And you never know what kind of treasure you might find.

Put No Limits on yourself and what you can do!

Featured Member of the Month

MELODY GRAMMER
Silpada Stering Silver Jewelry

Many of you know her as one of newest moms, but many of you know her also as the jewelry lady. Melody Grammer with Silpada's Sterling Silver Jewelry is our latest featured member of the month.

Let me give you some inside scoop on Melody. She is a true Texan girl, born in Abilene and grew up in Lampasas and Odessa, Texas. As a child she had great adventures going sledding with her family in Yellowstone National Park. College life led her to receive a Bachelors' degree at the UNT, and a Masters in Social Work at UTA. (Smart girl!)

If you want to find Melly (as her close friends call her) doing what she really enjoys you might find her hanging out with her church friends and eating Thai food. Melody joined the Women's Division to promote her business, build relationships and give back to the community. She is pleased to say she has been able to achieve all three.
